And. Here. We. Go!

One of the most exciting PGA TOUR events tees off this week and will carry us into Super Bowl Sunday. The Waste Management Phoenix Open started yesterday on a rainy and windy Thursday at TPC Scottsdale. During tournament time with the grandstands set up, the course turns into one of the most electric golf courses on our planet. More specifically the famous 16th hole where loud and rowdy fans are more than welcome, cheering on the good shots and incessantly booing the bad. Over the years we have seen some pretty spectacular moments and hole-in-ones, where the player and the green typically get soaked by beers tossed by the fans. This weekend the odds are set at -110 for there to be at least 1 hole-in-one on the Par 3, 162-yard 16th hole. As golf fans we all hope that bet cashes so we can join in on the fun, but The Phoenix Open also plays host to a fantastic golf tournament beyond the chaos.

Last year, Scottie Scheffler shot six under on Day 4 to secure the title against the likes of LIV’s big new star John Rahm. Scottie is definitely a name to keep an eye on as he has won the past two Phoenix Opens, and has dominated at TPC Scottsdale. Players like Max Homa, Justin Thomas, and the leader through Thursday, Sahith Theegala, are all names to keep an eye on. Homa seems like he’s on the cusp of a Top 10 finish before the Genesis Invitational where he finished up runner up last year. Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth both finished Top 10 last year and will definitely be looking to repeat this year. JT in particular has had a ton of success here in the past, and has been playing some quality golf as of late. We can’t wait for the action to unfold, and are look forward to another special Phoenix Open before tuning into the Chiefs vs. 49ers in the Super Bowl on Sunday.
