Behind the Banter

On this week’s episode of Friendly Banter, Tom and Andrew catch up on the Chiefs victory in The Big Game™ and discuss the carnage at The Waste Management Phoenix Open. They also share their takes on Tiger’s new clothing line, Sun Day Red, and make some picks for this week at The Genesis Invitational.

Feb 15 - 18 | Riviera CC | Los Angeles, CA

Well The Waste Management Phoenix Open certainly didn’t disappoint. The Canadian Nick Taylor brought home the win after being 3 shots back with only four holes left to play. Despite the crazy crowd and the large deficit, Taylor found a way to take down the American Charley Hoffman in a playoff. This week, we’re sweating out the hangover and getting ready to enjoy one of the most phenomenal events on the PGA Tour schedule, The Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club.

Last year, Jon Rahm took home the victory in a dramatic finishing against Max Homa. Rahm is obviously out of the field this year, but we still have most of the top players in the world competing for a 20 million dollar purse. We will get to see Tiger Woods rock his new apparel line, Sun Day Red, and hopefully see some great golf at Riviera Country Club. Safe to say a ton of fans will be rooting for the hometown hero, Max Homa, and he will be one of the most followed golfers this week as he looks to bounce back from missing the cut last week. We’re also keeping one eye on Colin Morikawa who could be in line for a special weekend. Colin has placed Top 10 a couple of times at Riviera, and in 2022 finished runner up. Colin’s ability to hit greens in regulation at a very demanding track like Riviera should bode well for him. Sam Burns and Sahith Theegala are also on our radar with some untapped value in the betting markets as they’ve been playing some of their best golf as of late and have also had good performances at Riviera in the past.
