The US Senate Hearing on the PGA Tour + LIV Golf Merger

The hearing this Tuesday morning was about 3 hours long and while it seemed to lack clear direction, there were a couple of key themes that emerged. Again, it was made evident that the PGA Tour did not broker this deal with LIV and the PIF because they wanted to. They simply had no other choice given the amount of money the PIF was willing to put in to force their hand. Second, it’s 100% not certain that this deal will go through, and it sounds like the US Government would prefer that it didn’t. It appears that there is genuine concern in Washington that the precedent this would set is not one that they’re taking lightly, and this deal will continue to receive lots of scrutiny over the coming weeks and months.

Allisen Corpuz refused to falter and won the first ever Women’s US Open at Pebble Beach by 3 shots

Despite an incredible effort by Charley Hull to make a run on Sunday, Corpuz was nails down the stretch and did everything she needed to do to solidify her place in history as the first ever winner of a US Open at Pebble Beach. Corpuz finished at -9, a full 3 shots clear of Hull and Jiyai Shin who tied for second at -6. It was an awesome week at one of the most iconic venues in golf, which will hopefully mark the beginning of many more women’s events at the most deserving courses with true Major atmosphere. It’s also fitting that this marked the last competitive event for Michelle Wie, who deserves a non-trivial share of the credit for getting us to this place today and where we’re still headed from here.

Sepp Straka nearly breaks 60 on his way to an epic Sunday comeback at the John Deere Classic

Starting the day 3 shots back, Straka went on an absolute tear and was -11 (for the day!) after 14 holes on Sunday. 59, even 58, looked to be in the realm of possibility. Unfortunately after a streak of pars and a double bogey on 18, Straka had to settle for a 62 and a two-shot victory.
